12. If a doubt arise respecting the space of balls, the space must, if the participant's ball be in hand, be measured from the centre spot on the half-circle; but when the player's ball be not in hand, the measurement must be made from his ball to the other; and in each instances the doubt have to be decided by nearly all of the gamers; but when the distance be equal, then the owners of the balls at equal distances must draw heaps. If the balls pocketed don't include the ball performed at, their homeowners must draw tons for the star. 16. If the striker pocket a ball, and by the same stroke lose a life in any approach, the participant whose ball is pocketed does not lose a life. White places his ball on the higher spot; Red plays at White, Yellow at Red, and so on, every participant enjoying on the last ball, until or not it's in hand; in that case the player plays at the closest ball. If a participant plays out of turn or with the improper ball, he loses a life to the participant who precedes him.

20. If the participant, both in taking aim or in any manner whatever, except when in hand, contact his own ball, it's a foul. 11. If a life is misplaced, the subsequent participant plays at the nearest ball to his own; but if the next player's ball be in hand, he performs at the nearest ball to the centre spot of the half-circle. 15. The player loses a life by any one of the following means.-By pocketing his personal ball; by operating a coup; by missing a ball; by forcing his own ball off the table; by taking part in with a unsuitable ball; by enjoying out of his turn; by stopping or touching his personal ball earlier than it has performed rolling; or by his ball hanging one other ball before hitting the one he ought to have performed at. 18. If the striker miss the ball he must play at and strike another ball and pocket it, he loses a life, and his ball should be taken off the desk, and both balls should remain in hand till it be their flip to play.

26. If the striker have the following participant's ball eliminated, and his ball cease on the spot the other occupied, the next player should give a miss from the baulk to any a part of the table he thinks correct, for which miss he does not lose a life. Consequently, the chief point for consideration is methods to play for security-that's, the way to play to go away your personal ball so that the player who follows on can't put you in. 6. The primary participant who loses his three lives is entitled to purchase a star by paying into the pool the same sum as at the graduation, for which he receives lives equal in quantity to the bottom number on the board. 7. If the first player out refuse to star, the second could do so; if the second refuse, the third may accomplish that; and so forth, till solely two are left in the pool, through which case the privilege ceases.

8. If before a star two or extra balls be pocketed by the identical stroke, together with the ball played at, every having one life, the owner of the ball first struck has the option of starring; but if he refuse, and multiple remain, the individuals to whom they belong should draw heaps for the star. If the striker pocket a ball by a foul stroke, the proprietor of that ball doesn't lose a life, but the ball stays in hand until it's his turn to play. 5. When the striker takes a life, he should proceed to play on the closest ball so long as he can take a life, till all the opposite balls are off the table; his personal should then be placed on the spot, as on the commencement. If two balls were taken up from the same spot, the one last taken up has to be replaced first. 23. If the ball or balls be in the best way of a striker, or the striker's cue, so that he cannot play at his ball without an inexpensive chance of constructing a foul, he can have them taken up.
