APPARATUS is a New York based design studio that explores the relationship of Lighting, Furniture and Objects in immersive environments, threading the historical and the cultural through a modern lens. Creative Director Gabriel Hendifar approaches the Studios’s work as narrative, drawing on the vocabulary of desire and emotional response. Inspired by the Modernist principle of a total work of art, the studio is an ever-evolving articulation of considered spaces and the things that live within them.

Job Description:
The Industrial Designer works directly with the Senior Technical Designer, Director of Design and Creative Director to execute new product development. In addition to supporting our Lighting, Furniture and Objects collections, the Industrial Designer will also support the renovation and construction of Showrooms, Exhibition Spaces, Temporary and Permanent Installations and sets for Photo Shoots and Events. Candidate must have advanced skills in SolidWorks, as well as skills in Rhinoceros. Candidate must work well in collaborative environment, be a solutions-based thinker, pivot easily and be able to drive for results. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. 

The main areas of responsibility are:
• Assisting Development of Lighting, Furniture and Objects Collections
• Create technical drawings that are clear to Vendors and Production team.
• Work with Production and Assembly to create fluid design process
• Knowledge of UL/CE specifications
• Prototyping, Hand working and construction of samples of new products and other projects.
• Assistance with Showroom Installations and Trade Events.
• Up-to-date Knowledge of Lighting and Manufacturing technologies
• Providing installation Instructions and Assembly instructions
